My photos live at a strange kind of madness and flickr.
With gallows humor, the Los Alamos physicists got up a betting pool on the possible yield of the bomb. Estimates ranged from zero to as high as 45,000 tons of TNT. Enrico Fermi, who won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1938 for his work on nuclear fission, offered side odds on the bomb destroying all life on the planet.

…

More prosaically, Dr. Kenneth Bainbridge, site director of the Trinity test, said: “Now we are all sons-of-bitches.”

In 2002, architect Rem Koolhaus and his firm the Office for Metropolitan Architecture won the competition for the design and construction of a new complex for the CCTV’s new headquarters to be completed in time for the Beijing Olympics. The building is now nearing completion.

The main building is not a traditional tower, but a continuous loop of five horizontal and vertical sections covering 4,100,000 square feet of floor space, creating an irregular grid on the building’s facade with an open center.

The use of glass is always perfected in his work. Another building you might recognize by Koolhaus is the Seattle Public Library, which is really just amazing and one of my favorites.
